NEW BILL RAISES AGE FOR DRIVING TEST FOR SENIORS
Under a new bill pending (HB1226) drafted by Secretary of State Giannoulias the age when senior citizens would need to take behind the wheel test to renew their license would increase from the current 79 to 87. The reason for the change is based on crash data from Illinois Department of Transportation. According to that data the crash rate for drivers 75 and older is “lower than any other age of drivers”. https://www.sj-r.com/story/news/state/2025/02/25/new-bill-would-raise-age-illinois-seniors-need-to-take-driving-test/79226496007/#
