
Aggravated Speeding.
There are 2 common types of aggravated speeding. The first is speeding more than 26 miles per hour over the limit. The second is speeding more than 35 miles per hour hour over the limit. You can read the mumble jumble here what you want to know is what is going to happen to you.
Aggravated speeding is NOT just a “ticket”. It is a crime. Our representatives in Springfield have set a punishment for “Aggravated Speeding” so that the Judge can sentence you to jail (for as much as 364 days) and fine you as much as $2500. The punishment depends in part on how much over the limit you were speeding.
If you are convicted of violating 625 ILCS 5/-601.5 (a) Speeding more than 26 miles per hour over the limit then the Judge can sentence you to time in the County Jail for as long as 180 days and fine you $1500 and in addition assess you mandatory Court Costs. Any criminal conviction has a negative impact on future employment.
If you are convicted of violating 625 ILCS 5/-601.5 (b) Speeding more than 35 miles per hour over the limit then the Judge can sentence you to time in the County Jail for as long as 364 days and fine you as much as $2500 and must assess you mandatory Court Costs. In addition to negative impacts on current or future employment - a criminal conviction for an auto offense can have serious and significant impact to your auto insurance.

All convictions regarding traffic matters are reported to the Secretary of State. Depending on your driving record the Secretary of State can suspend or even revoke your license if convicted of Aggravated Speeding.
