Driving under the Influence of Alcohol and Cannabis..
If you have been charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Cannabis (DUI) you can read the legal mumble jumble here but what you want to know is what is going to happen to you.
A DUI offense has 2 parts.
The first part is criminal in nature. If you are convicted of a first DUI offense then it is possible that the Judge can sentence you to Cook County Jail (as much as 364 days and nights) and fine you (up to $2500 in fines and at least $1381 in Assessments “court costs’).
The second part is civil in nature. That is your driving privileges. In order to legally drive you may have to have a ‘gizmo’ (which you must blow into before the vehicle will start) installed in your car. You will have to pay for the rental, installation and maintenance of the ‘gizmo’ for up to 12 months. The ‘gizmo’ requires that you blow into it before your car will start. The sooner you hire me the sooner I can ask the Judge to rescind the requirement of the ‘gizmo’ and restore your full driving privileges.
The penalties increase if this is not your first DUI.
Your best choice is to call me as soon as possible so that I can tell you what rights you have and discuss the options available.
I have been practicing for over 40 years and have learned a few things along the way.
Let me help you.
Let me fight for you.
